JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant, Inventory and Cost is an integral part of the finance team and will be primarily focused on inventory, costing, and internal controls.
Candidates must have a strong knowledge of excel and data analytics. The individual must have the ability and a demonstrated track record in researching, documenting, and presenting the financial impact of cost and inventory related transactions. This position will be responsible for monitoring inventory and cost accounts, incorporating the understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including preparation of the consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and other required information, in accordance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.
- Perform month-end closing procedures (record JE’s, reconcile accounts, etc.)
- Perform inventory reconciliations and rollforwards for multiple inventory organizations.
- Assist with periodic/annual physical inventory counts.
- Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers.
- Perform intercompany inventory profit elimination.
- Perform monthly analysis of excess inventory.
- Analyze cost variances and help drive the organization to find efficiencies in processes.
- Ability to collaborate with other teams (Supply Chain, Operations, VR, etc.)
- Assist with SOX audits performed by internal and external auditors.
- Maintains financial security by establishing and adhering to internal controls.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related projects as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Master degree preferred)
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 5+ years accounting experience in the Finance/Accounting field, Pharmaceutical Industry experience preferred.
- Advanced computer skills in MS Excel, accounting software and databases
- Proven knowledge of US GAAP, SOX and SEC reporting requirements
- Oracle EBS knowledge a plus.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to anticipate events, prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.
- Pharmaceutical industry knowledge preferred but not required.
Working conditions/Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this position.
Travel
This position will require travel to various locations within the organizational structure, to training and meetings, etc.
