BrandStar, a television production and marketing company located in Deerfield Beach, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting team!

THE POSITION
The Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising and managing multiple functions within the accounting department such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting. This includes overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. This person plays a key role in the Accounting department by assisting the VP in implementing accounting policies and procedures that adhere to financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP standards. The Accounting Manager is expected to process a large volume of work in a deadline driven environment. Detailed G/L analysis and reconciliation experience is required.
Specific Responsibilities Include
- Lead and manage accounting department employees; responsible for day-to-day supervision and leadership.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including research and resolution of discrepancies.
- Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures and processes.
- Supervise and participate in month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Assist with setting up new companies in accounting system.
- Maintain financial systems and reporting mechanisms.
- Prepare any necessary ad hoc reports or financial analyses as requested.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Coordinate and work with external firms on completion of financial audits (year-end, 401k, etc.).
- Oversee completion of bank reconciliations and posting of credit card transactions.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Monthly & quarterly sales tax return filings.
- Communicate with team members from other functional areas as well as external sources.
- Exercise judgment in applying GAAP.
Required Experience
- BA/BS degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university.
- 8+ years of corporate accounting experience including completing financial closes and previous experience overseeing the work of other accounting professionals.
- CPA license preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and its implications.
- Previous experience supporting a multi-state employer required.
- Previous experience working in a multiple-company organization preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Must be able to collaborate effectively with internal team at all levels.
- Advanced level skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong leadership skills and previous experience managing others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to manage employees while multi-tasking large projects.
- Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus.
