Financial Controller

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant industry regulations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to forecast revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis, identifying areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including profitability analysis, trend analysis, and ROI (Return on Investment) evaluation for new initiatives and investments.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive business growth and operational efficiency.
Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow and liquidity by forecasting cash needs, monitoring banking activities, and optimizing cash balances.
- Implement effective cash management strategies to maximize interest income and minimize borrowing costs.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls, insurance coverage, and risk management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including tax laws, audit requirements, and industry-specific regulations such as DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations for the trucking industry.
Financial Systems and Processes:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to adapt to changing business needs and technological advancements.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
- Set clear performance goals and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members to support their growth and success.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred.
Extensive experience in financial management, preferably in the transportation or trucking industry.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Proven leadership abilities with a track record of effectively leading and developing a finance team.
