(1) Conduct thorough analysis of exercise objectives and directives to develop exercise collection management plans.
(2) For AAR purposes, work in close conjunction with KBSC operations and the exercise chief controller, facilitator, and senior observers to determine information collection requirements and to identify specific tasks to be observed and evaluated.
(3) Aid KBSC personnel in determining and overseeing the synchronization of scenario execution, information collection, and AAR preparation requirements.
(4) Provide doctrinal expertise and analytical expertise in support of KBSC operations and the AAR process.
(5) Review data collected from preceding exercises, with a view to identify trends and inconsistencies, in support of doctrine and combat development feedback to the command.
(6) Assemble and analyze inputs from observers, instructor/controllers, senior controllers, the facilitator, the exercise director, and other sources as applicable, to provide appropriate exercise evaluation.
(7) Synthesize and analyze information inputs to evaluate the performance of commanders and staffs as they complete mission tasks to achieve exercise objectives.
(8) Prepare assessments and viewable products for use in compiling interim and final AARs.
(9) Perform analyst duties as part of the AAR team as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
(1) Education:
(a) Required:
- BA, BS, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Graduate of a military Command and Staff College.
(b) Desired:
- Graduate of a Senior Service College.
- Masters in Military Science.
(2) Qualifications:
- Honorable service as a commissioned officer in the US Armed Forces.
- Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
- Three years’ experience with US Joint doctrine, organization, and procedures up to the theater-level.
- Experience in combined/coalition operations.
- Experience in exercise/training performance analysis and evaluation.
- Experience in the compilation and presentation, both oral and written, of lessons learned and training evaluation type subject materials.
- Experience in the preparation and conduct of seminars, after action reviews, and classroom instruction.
- Experience with simulation supported wargaming.
