Position Summary
The Sr. Director, Technology & Accounting will provide leadership, oversight and direct the accounting functions of the company. This role will also work closely with decision makers across departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for the accounting function. They will ensure alignment with company priorities and the long-term strategy for enterprise systems and ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Position Responsibilities
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly preparation of financial statements
- Oversee all balance sheet accounts reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintain internal control and safeguards assets
- Lead external audits, prepare audited financial statements and ensure timely audit completion
- Support the VP Controller in all aspects of accounting operations
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements, including applicable accounting updates; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Play an integral role in the selection process for new team members and manage existing leaders and individual contributors within accounting/finance
- Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals
- Design, develop, and partner with stakeholders to implement effective technology solutions and accounting operations to support scalability, efficiency, supportability, ease of maintenance and system performance
- Develop and implement technology strategies to enhance accounting processes and financial reporting
- Collaborate with senior management to align technology initiatives with business goals
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of accounting software and systems
- Ensure data integrity and security across all financial systems
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes through automation and technology
- Lead projects to implement process improvements and increase operational efficiency
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- 10+ years of experience in public/private accounting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field
- Current and active CPA license
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and well-versed in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Knowledge of technology and automated financial and accounting reporting systems (ex. NetSuite, Concur, Esker, Vendor Management, CRM, POS system and Ceridian Dayforce)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel)
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and annual audited financial statements
- Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
- Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in Accounting, or related field
