The opportunity
The Senior Director of Search & Evaluation has a direct impact on the success of Teva’s “Pivot to Growth” strategy and global business specific to our short and long term growth within Innovative Medicines. This person will be responsible for proactively scouting external innovation to augment discovery, early and late development and commercial. By assembling teams of internal specialists, the candidate selected will conduct due diligence activities that ensure an understanding of investment opportunities.
How you’ll spend your day
- Responsible for synthesizing and communicating the merits of potential investment opportunities and enabling enterprise decision-making to ensure that the opportunities are fit for purpose and support our long term portfolio strategy.
- Serves as a key ambassador for Teva’s business development aims and objectives with biopharma and biotech companies within Innovative Medicines.
- Supports deal teams to drive internal and external processes to bring deals to closure.
- The top candidate will have a strong R&D scientific and clinical background, proven project and people leadership, business and strategic acuity and interpersonal skills. In addition, the ability to engage and collaborate across organizational boundaries with an entrepreneurial demeanor by acting with urgency and agility. The candidate will best represent Teva’s scientific excellence through a deep understanding of the portfolio and ensures TEVA is considered partner of choice.
- The top candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for search and evaluation of external in-licensing opportunities emanating from academia, VC, biotech and peer-pharma including early research projects, new modality platforms, clinical stage candidates and Life Cycle Management (LCM) opportunities for our pipeline assets and franchises that can improve the scientific credibility of Teva’s R&D portfolio.
- The top candidate will establish and lead Due Diligence teams and processes (for preclinical and early and late clinical assets) to drive detailed scientific evaluation of assets and deliver recommendations to governance bodies including the senior executive management. Will serve as a point of contact with the external partner throughout the deal process and work collaboratively with the transactional lead within the BD team.

They will be a thought partner senior leaders within the organization, possessing a global mindset and a strong ability to collaborate and operate with diverse teams and leadership across geographies and cultures.
Your experience and qualifications
- PhD, M.D., or M.D./PhD in neuroscience or a related scientific field (e.g. biology, chemistry, pharmacology).
- Minimum 10 years experience cumulative related to BD, R&D in biopharma and a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Deal experience and solid foundation of generally accepted BD practices.
- Strong scientific reputation in drug discovery and development.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior executive teams.
- History of building internal/external relationships, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness.
- Extensive experience in pharmaceutical R&D, demonstrating international experience in multiple cultures and drug discovery / clinical environments.
- Ability to think critically, creatively and to anticipate and solve problems.
- Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highly-matrixed work environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills, able to influence internal and external stakeholders. This individual will be highly visible at all levels of the organization and must be able to build trust and credibility.
- Advanced principles and practices of project management and ability to support department goals, track, and report execution progress.
- Techniques to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
- Strong written and communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Substantive experience in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
