Greater Philadelphia Area mechanical construction contractor is looking for a Plumbing Estimator.
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with clients and sell services.
- Prepare, maintain, and keep projects on schedule.
- Perform detailed conceptual estimates for commercial Plumbing Systems, requiring a basic layout of systems for takeoff and adjustments to complete pricing. Compile historical data where no drawings are available, ensuring clear communication with the General Contractor/Owner to eliminate misunderstandings regarding pricing and potential unforeseen costs.
- Visit job sites and interact with project foreman to ensure all proper paperwork is submitted.
- Complete budgets for cost accounting based on estimates.
- Work with subcontractors and vendors to eliminate scope gaps.
- Prepare over and under billing reports per project.
- Put together Change Orders, cost revisions, and updates.
- Issue Pre-Bid and Post-Bid RFI’s, maintaining logs and project documentation.
- Attend and conduct pre-bid and post-bid design and construction meetings.
- Assemble O&M’s, Submittals, and Start Up Manuals.
- Review and respond to all punch list items.
- Verify and update delivery and installation schedules.
- Release equipment and fixtures, including follow-up.
- Issue and maintain all subcontractor contracts.
Qualifications
- Working towards or completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or 2 years of Estimating Experience at a major plumbing contracting company.
- Ability to interact with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with clients.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions from clients, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel while maintaining accuracy in takeoffs.
- Good math and reading skills are essential.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, RFP’s, project narratives, etc.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and familiarity with computerized estimating software; familiarity with Autodesk products is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of the International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, as well as the design, operation, and maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Basic understanding of Cost Accounting and Work In Progress Schedules.
- Proactive mentality.
