Role Overview:
As a Financial Budget Analyst, you will play a key role in managing the General Operating Fund and providing financial support to various divisions within our organization. Your responsibilities will include assisting in budget development, analyzing financial data, preparing invoices for police services, and overseeing financial transactions within our ERP system (Munis).
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and monitor operating budget activity for the department's general fund.
- Lead the development of budgets for police services provided to other departments and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual invoices.
- Serve as the primary approver of requisitions and purchase order change orders against operating funds.
- Provide guidance and support to department staff on operating budget financial issues, including research and training.
- Coordinate training for Munis end-users and provide direction on accounting practices and city policies.
- Troubleshoot issues with Munis and provide timely solutions.
- Lead the annual year-end closing and reopening process for the department, including developing schedules and providing training.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective training skills in one-on-one and group settings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of local government finance and accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and other related software.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Combination of accounting degree, MPA, or MBA.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
