Due to our continued growth, we are hiring for a Financial Controller at M3 Global Research, an M3 company.
Job Description
This new role of Financial Controller (US) forms a key part of the global Accounting team and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Accounting and FP&A functions for the 4 US companies within the MR Group, a division of M3.
This role will form an important relationship with the leaders of the 4 businesses, working closely with them to ensure a strong finance service is provided. Ensuring day-to-day tasks and monthly financials are completed timely and accurately by the team. There will also be collaboration with the global Accounting team and within the MR Group leadership.
The Financial Controller (US) will also be responsible for assisting in various corporate tasks such as audit support and tax requests. The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced financial leader who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong work ethic with exceptional customer relationship skills and can demonstrate strong leadership experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the entire Month-End process is performed timely and accurately.
- Manage the day-to-day operations ensuring all basic accounting functions are being performed properly.
- Oversee various account reconciliations (including Bank Reconciliations) and ensure the team resolves any discrepancies timely.
- Analyze financial reports pre-close and post-close to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes.
- Perform monthly and ad-hoc reports to the executive team as needed.
- Oversee the commissions and bonus process.
- Assist in various internal and external Audit Requests.
- Assist M3’s Tax Partner on Federal/State Tax filings.
- Ensure Sales Tax filings are filed properly.
- Oversee Budgets and Forecasts for the 4 US businesses.
- Oversee the back office function for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable ensuring accuracy and timeliness of operation.
- Recommend and develop improvements to the accounting systems and processes.
- Work closely with the Finance team of the wider MR group, to standardize processes and gain experience of the wider setup, supporting the ongoing development for improved processes and controls, maintaining relevant documentation.
- Control the monthly recognition of revenues and cost of sales, reconciling at project level.
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register and WIP accounts.
- Oversee the intercompany processes between the companies.
Qualifications
Education and Training Required:
Bachelor’s degree required and CPA.
Minimum Experience:
10+ years of related experience, including 5+ years leading an Accounting function.
Knowledge, Skill, Ability:
- Exceptional time management, organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Proactive and efficient.
- Excellent people skills, building strong relationships will be key to the role.
- Strong system skills including Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookups and SumIfs) and Finance systems (Current package is NetSuite, experience is beneficial but not essential).
- Must have a strong ability to analyze a P&L statement.
- Experience of managing new acquisitions and integrating them into a group useful but not essential.
