Position Purpose: The Sr. Ag Financial Analyst (FA) will underwrite and perform risk analysis of credit requests assigned through Agricultural & Commercial Lending. Performs an independent, objective and detail financial and collateral analysis of loan requests. In collaboration with EVP, responsible for structuring transactions, developing credit recommendations and loan portfolio monitoring including covenant compliance. Collaborates with stakeholders on credit related matters to ensure expeditious processing and improve client experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts detailed, independent financial and collateral analysis on credit requests. Evaluates business plans, projections, operating records and financial statements. Evaluates all types of collateral in relation to feasibility of transaction, market/industry conditions and loan structure. Supports conclusions based on factual data. Effectively communicates information and analytical results to stakeholders. This would be applicable to new requests and existing requests as it applicable to annual term reviews. Recommend the structure of credit products based on company policies through thorough analysis.
- Prepares timely and concise formal written credit authorization, ensuring complete and accurate information. Analyzes industry and commodity trends.
- Provides timely completion of annual term loan reviews and maintains adequate contact logs. Monitor loan compliance (e.g., covenant compliance, delinquencies). Assist in the analysis and preparation of annual reviews and any additional reports.
- Accompany Agricultural Relationship Managers (RMs), when requested, on customer farm visits/evaluations.
- In collaboration with EVP identify risk/mitigates of loan structure and participates in discussions with Loan Committee as required.
- Identifies risks associated with each loan and mitigation to risks. Generates and recommends risk ratings.
- Interprets and applies Credit Union policies, governmental regulations and accounting theory.
- Prepares reports and analysis in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections and business forecasts.
- Performs industry research in various market areas including Agricultural market to support transaction.
- Participates on client calls and/or client relationships with EVP as assigned.
- Works on complex loans including but not limited to Agricultural Loans, Commercial Loans and C&I and construction loans.
- Partners with EVP in supporting growth initiatives, Agricultural products, new commercial loan products and implementation of new Agricultural & Commercial Vendors.
Performance Measurements:
- Agricultural & commercial lending services are successfully performed in accordance with established Credit Union policies, procedures and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Agricultural & Commercial & Consumer regulations and with assistance of manager, initiates appropriate changes to CU’s lending processes and policies.
- Documents and reports are completed accurately, efficiently and in a timely fashion.
- Member satisfaction measured through continued additional member services and/or products.
- Internal and NCUA audits with minimal findings and no documents of resolutions (DOR).
- Good working relationship exist with Credit Union personnel, management, members and vendors.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures. Annual compliance training is completed and complies with business continuity and vendor management policy. These are crucial to the success of the organization and have regulatory compliance and/or safety and soundness for the sustainability of the Credit Union.
- Complies with all Anti Money Laundering laws such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA Patriot Act and all related policies and procedures including accurate Member/Customer Identification Program, member due diligence, accurate OFAC match processing, and reporting unusual activities and suspected fraud.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or related field preferred, with a minimum of 10 years related accounting or financial statement/lending experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experienced required.
- Expertise in detailed Agricultural financial and collateral analysis of complex and sophisticated credit requested required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Good organizational and time management skills with ability to handle multiple tasks under tight timelines.

- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manual.
- Good communication and public relations skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
