Join our dynamic information technology team as a Senior GIS Analyst. We are seeking a highly skilled individual with expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) to lead our GIS initiatives and projects. Responsibilities:
- GIS Project Leadership: Lead GIS projects from conception to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
- Data Management: Oversee the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of spatial datasets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Develop and implement data standards and protocols for GIS operations.
- Spatial Analysis: Conduct complex spatial analyses to support planning, resource management, and decision-making processes. Utilize advanced GIS techniques to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within spatial data.
- Cartography and Visualization: Design and produce high-quality maps and visualizations for internal and public consumption. Ensure maps adhere to cartographic principles and effectively communicate spatial information.
- Database Management: Manage GIS databases, including data storage, retrieval, and optimization. Develop and maintain spatial databases to support GIS applications and workflows.
- Application Development: Develop custom GIS applications, tools, and scripts to automate workflows and enhance GIS capabilities. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL is required.
- User Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to GIS users across the organization. Assist users with GIS software usage, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Spatial Data Governance: Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines for spatial data governance and compliance. Ensure adherence to data security and privacy regulations.
- Research and Innovation: Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in GIS and spatial analysis. Explore innovative approaches to GIS problem-solving and recommend strategic advancements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among GIS team members and stakeholders. Communicate GIS concepts and findings to non-technical audiences in a clear and accessible manner.
- Budget Oversight: Collaborate with the CIO in the development and management of the IT budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in GIS analysis, database management, and application development, preferably in a local government or public sector environment.
- Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Pro and other GIS software platforms.
- Strong knowledge of spatial analysis techniques, including geoprocessing, spatial statistics, and network analysis.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and geodatabases.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in GIS, such as Python, JavaScript, or R.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local government operations, policies, and regulations is desirable.
Supervisory Responsibility: GIS Technician
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
