This position manages daily operations and ensures compliance with policies and procedures in accounts payable, while maintaining a strong business partnering relationship with all other areas within the company. The position is responsible for managing the accounts payable staff.
This position will be worked as a Hybrid schedule out of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS, Monett MO, Springfield MO or Allen, TX. (Must be able to travel to a main office location)
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Managing the Accounts Payable team, overseeing staff assignments, training, evaluating workloads, processing daily tasks, and managing special projects.
- Evaluating workflow processes, recommending, and implementing procedural and system changes to deliver quality service to the department's customers.
- Identify and drive process improvements through positive change to increase efficiencies.
- Prepares month-end analysis and reporting. Monitors and assists with processing during month-end close.
- Create metrics to monitor accounts payable department’s efficiency and accuracy on a regular basis. Ensure relevant accounts payable metrics are achieved or exceeded. Execute and monitor key metrics to measure departmental performance. Develop, maintain, and communicate dashboard, and other performance tracking mechanisms.
- Managing the process to ensure vendor invoices and check requests are paid in accordance with cash flow and authorization policies.
- Directing the production and reconciliation of annual 1099s and overseeing any investigations of all discrepancies to ensure accurate and timely reporting in accordance with IRS regulations.
- Overseeing Accounts Payable system support for testing and implementing accounting changes, system upgrades, new interfaces, and reports. Working with the IT staff as necessary to complete these tasks.
- Ensuring effective communications are maintained within the department and externally. Where appropriate, inform employees of company/department plans and progress. Conducting regular staff meetings.
- Conducting performance reviews and actively engaging in recognition and employee development efforts.
- Ensuring compliance in audits and SOX controls and maintaining assigned documentation.
- Assist Accounting with special projects and assignments.
- Performing other duties as requested.
What you’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Previous supervision experience required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Experience within AP that manages an estimate of 400-500 invoices a week.
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills.
- Able to work with confidential materials and employee information and always maintain confidentiality.
What would be nice for you to have:
- Knowledge of procedures for various areas of accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, time and expense, general ledgers, income statements, balance sheets, and account reconciliation.
- Peoplesoft experience
- Proficient in Excel spreadsheets and able to use other accounting-related programs.
