JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for applying professional knowledge in the preparation of financial information. This position will perform general accounting and other financial related activities. This position will assist with month end close activities including account analysis and reconciliation as well as other assigned duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly reconciliation of select balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure that all financial transactions are captured in the general ledger and in a timely manner within the monthly closing schedule.
- Responsible for the general ledger accounting of grant(s) & contribution(s) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles which includes the review of approved expenditures and the recording of associated revenue. This position will work closely with the post award grant manager (PAGM) to ensure timely submission of invoices, while gaining an understanding of the reporting cycle of each grant.
- Monitor and reconcile training operations financial activity relating to continuing education (such as AHA) impacting revenue receipts, billing and accounts receivable.
- Responsible for ongoing maintenance of FASB Topic ASU 2016-02 Leases (Topic 842) financial reporting.
- Prepare and enter journal entries for accounting operations.
- Prepare for and assist with the annual external audit(s), including single audits.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or equivalent.
- 5 - 7 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Demonstrate ability to establish work priorities, delegate assignments as appropriate and follow through to ensure completion of activities.
- Strong computer aptitude and proficiency, including advanced Excel skills; proficiency in other MS Office applications a must.
- Demonstrate success in leveraging financial system capabilities.
- Excellent data management and analytical skills with a passion for details and “digging in.”
- Strong organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities with superior attention to detail in a dynamic environment; ability to drive process improvements.
- Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
