JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
Manages and develops a complex portfolio of real estate assets and large client relationships for Trust and Asset Management accounts. Trust specialty assets include real estate, oil & gas, closely held entities, notes and mortgages, and tangible personal property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and develops new business for large and complex trust and asset management relationships.
- Provides real estate asset management and client services for a complex portfolio of specialty assets in accordance with the terms of governing documents, client investment needs, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and Bank/Trust Department policies and procedures.
- Provides clients with solutions to specialty assets or account problems; designs, structures, and manages individual assets or portfolios to meet specific client objectives and investment performance; provides in-depth portfolio analysis to ensure proper diversification.
- Acts as the real estate asset management representative for internal partners focusing on exceptional service delivery and new business development in a specific or regional geographic area.
- Supports Wealth Team's business development activities and initiatives to attain sales goals.
- Keeps current with all developments, applicable laws and regulations within individual field and may provide advice to more junior asset managers, relationship managers, investment officers and/or business development officers as necessary.
- Represents Bank on boards or committees related to businesses or institutions for which the Trust Department provides a service.
- Analyzes, studies, and gains full understanding of governing and legal documents.
- Assures the real estate asset management and account activities are in compliance with Bank/Trust Department policies, procedures, and any applicable federal/state laws and regulations.
- Contacts or corresponds with attorneys, agencies, co-trustees/co-executors, lessors, and other parties who have an interest in any aspect of a specialty asset or its account.
- Seeks guidance and may advise management and members of the Specialty Assets Management Governance Committee or Trust Administrative Committee on questions or concerns regarding the administration and management of specialty assets and accounts.
- Represents the company in business activities and serves as a contact for customers, attorneys, CPAs, and beneficiaries relating to assets and accounts under management.
- May mentor more junior asset managers and administrators on all aspects of managing, servicing, and developing specialty assets and trust relationships.
- Documents in accordance with Trust policy and keeps current records on all property held at the direction of the settlor or owner.
- Directs collection of earnings from sale of assets and placement of proceeds in trust account.
- In consultation with internal partners, produces proposals for new business pricing or terms.
- Reviews financing documents to assure that the Bank is comfortable with all terms and conditions that may require the hiring of trustee counsel to represent the Bank in the transaction and the negotiation of terms of the documents.
- Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws; Provides guidance and oversight to and is responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the assigned team. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; associate compensation; approving expense reports; addressing concerns and resolving problems.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Finance, or Accounting, and three (3) years of professional real estate, oil & gas, or other specialty assets services experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Trust administration/operations, banking, or financial services experience and an understanding of the banking industry preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Industry licensing and/or certifications preferred but not required.
- Must be able to demonstrate experienced knowledge of specialty assets management and administration.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Office required.

- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
- Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
