Job Summary
The Commissions Accounting Manager reviews and reconciles agent commission statements, calculates commissions, updates the Agency Management System, and generates reports to ensure Agents are paid accurately and on time.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review new policies from incoming commission statements and input into Agency Management System to generate outgoing commission advances and earnings for agents.
- Reconcile incoming commission payments to the expected schedule and identify and resolve differences.
- Communicate (written and verbal) with insurance companies to resolve problems such as, but not limited to, missing payments, incorrect payments, policy & agent statuses, and other commission-related matters.
- Generate reports from Agency Management System related to commission payments (incoming from carriers and outgoing to agents).
- Scan & file commission statements.
- Manage commissions team of 4-5 analysts.
- Manage agent calls & emails related to commissions while delivering excellent service.
- Help develop or improve operating procedures to ensure efficient and effective accounting.
- Perform complex financial transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Balance account statements by identifying issues and correcting financial errors.
- Perform weekly quality oversight activities for individuals and carriers.
- Lead, support, and coach other commission accounting associates.
- Provide backup to Commission Accounting Manager and other Commission Accounting Analysts as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Primary Skills & Requirements:
- Must possess proficient computer skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Excel.
- Must have management experience and strong people skills to lead and coach others.
- Must be able to solve complex problems and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate sound organizational skills and accuracy in calculating figures and amounts such as commission premiums and percentages.
- Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced work environment.
- Experience with system testing and documenting new processes is preferred.
- Insurance industry experience and CPA are preferred.
- A four-year degree in Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
