The Village of La Grange (pop. 16,321) is seeking a part-time Finance Account Clerk for the Finance Department to provide front-desk customer service to support departmental operations. The position is responsible for assisting with record-keeping and administrative tasks within the department and performing detailed data entry. La Grange is a vibrant community offering walkable neighborhoods surrounding a bustling downtown that features diverse restaurants, independent shops, and national retail tenants.

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the part-time Finance Account Clerk will receive and process invoices, maintain financial records, perform reconciliation of receipts for items generating Village revenues, support utility billing functions, and assist with special projects as needed.

The Finance Account Clerk’s position is 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 2:00 pm with an unpaid lunch break.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. An Associate’s Degree or two years of technical or business school, or coursework in accounting is preferred. At least two years of previous accounting experience and one year of experience in cashiering or customer service is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered. Municipal experience, financial software experience, and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.

The hourly rate range for the position is $17.20 – $24.86 DOQ with IMRF (Illinois Municipality Retirement Fund) benefits. Successful completion of a physical exam, background investigation including reference checks, and alcohol and drug screening is required.
