The Global Chief Pricing Actuary is responsible for collaborating closely with the global pricing actuarial team, currently comprised of more than 30 pricing actuaries, to provide thought leadership and develop best-in-class pricing, modeling, and data science capabilities, establishing global standards and guidelines, and collaborating with IT to deploy enabling, standardized infrastructure. This individual will have both direct and indirect oversight and staff development responsibilities for pricing actuaries in all lines of business (Property & Casualty and Accident & Health and Insurance and Reinsurance) in all regions.
The Global Chief Pricing Actuary will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and dually reports to the Group President and Chief Underwriting Officer, and Global Chief Actuary.
In this capacity, the Global Chief Pricing Actuary will be responsible for all pricing globally. This role is critical in the Global CUO Office, which also includes Global Underwriting Strategy and Analytics, Global Exposure Management, Global Ceded Reinsurance, and Global Underwriting Quality and Control.
The Global Chief Pricing Actuary will take a long-term view and will empower regional and business unit pricing resources to focus on immediate concerns and ensure that the team keeps all horizons in focus. This position is responsible for setting direction and advancing the technical capabilities of the department through innovation, training, standards, and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Global pricing actuarial insight
- Coordinate portfolio steering with key stakeholders (e.g., underwriting, reserving).
- Contribute to the establishment of pricing target composite ratios.
- Coordinate feedback and communication between pricing and reserving functions to bridge the Pricing and Reserving views of profitability across the portfolio.
- Contribute to and review business plans.
- Develop and deploy pricing and underwriting analytics, visualizations, and reporting across the group.
- Conduct and advise on global and industry studies (e.g., market-cycle).
- Monitor and advise on rate level changes and rate adequacy.
- Provide input where needed on internal and external reinsurance pricing.
- Develop and suggest reinsurance and capital optimization strategies.
- Build the SiriusPoint pricing view on critical/emerging topics of importance e.g., social inflation, emerging claims issues, etc.
Pricing Governance / Risk Management
- Develop and institutionalize pricing standards, best practices, and guidelines.
- Govern model lifecycle (e.g., validation, documentation, impact analysis, update).
- Conduct pricing peer reviews audits to ensure compliance with global standards.
- Establish and oversee processes for monitoring pricing practices, including implementing a Pricing Review Group.
- Review pricing methodologies of all existing MGA partners; establish pricing protocol and oversight of MGA pricing to align with SiriusPoint pricing quality standards.
- Lead the assessment of all existing pricing tools; develop a gap analysis and plan to update pricing to ensure sound methodology is applied in all product areas and P&Ls.
- Interface with ERM, internal audit, and underwriting risk management.
- Establish expense loads, capital provisions, and investment income standards.
- Provide input on standards for risk accumulation.
- Document and interface with stakeholders on regulatory risk controls.
Process focused operations
- Coordinate and conduct projects within and across departments.
- Partner with local actuaries to develop and update models and benchmarks.
- Participate in the remediation of problem areas where necessary.
- Support local actuaries on regulatory, audit, rating agency matters.
- Support local actuaries on pricing and modeling projects and deliverables.
- Coordinate with local actuaries on segmentation and actuarial assumptions.
Infrastructure focused operations
- Build tools to track rate strength/adequacy across the portfolio; with P&L Leads and Product Heads proactively address areas that need pricing focus/attention for rate improvement.
- Coordinate with IT and Finance on budget, requirements, and project prioritization.
- Coordinate with global data teams on data needs (internal and external).
- Identify opportunities to leverage data in pricing across the group.
- Coordinate with underwriting on monitoring dashboard development.
- Coordinate with local actuaries to standardize tools and platforms.
Staff Development
- Support efforts to recruit, train, and develop staff to expand functional competencies.
SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $270,000 to $300,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary within this range, SiriusPoint will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.

Additional requirements include:
- Fellowship level actuarial credential with 20 or more years of actuarial experience, preferably with experience in commercial and personal business lines and multifunctional areas (pricing, reserving, data, analytics, capital modeling and optimization, CAT modeling, econometrics).
- Proven success in developing and motivating a team of driven, technical, successful professionals; leadership qualities to effect change.
- Capacity to enforce accountability and learn the strengths and development opportunities of the team to enable individual and team success.
- Advanced technical pricing, modeling, and data science expertise with both a theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of econometric and actuarial disciplines.
- Ability and strong desire to develop the technical abilities of others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently present internally and externally and influence outcomes. Ability to communicate business insight through compelling narratives.
- Executive acumen. Adept at presenting to all levels of the organization on pricing/actuarial topics including CEO, ELT, P&L, and Product Heads.
- Proven ability to dissect complex business issues, perform research and analysis, and synthesize conclusions into a value-maximizing strategy.
- Strong data analytics skills in traditional actuarial methods and tools as well as an interest and past experience evaluating emerging technologies including machine learning, artificial intelligence for pricing processes.
- Ability to dive into technical and execution level details, do hands-on work, connect the dots while thinking strategically and serve as a strong thought partner to cross-functional leaders.
- Strategically minded. Adept at incorporating pricing into strategy and portfolio management. Strong collaborator with other teams including CUO, Underwriting Leadership, Finance, Claims, etc.
- Comprehensive awareness of the business, regulatory environment, competitors, market cycle, technology, and legislative trends.
- Not afraid to take charge of a situation and can overcome resistance to change, taking unpopular stands when necessary.
- Proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining a pool of talented and successful insurance professionals and an ability to develop and manage high-functioning teams.
