The Opportunity:
Out Teach has embarked on an ambitious new phase of growth and is looking for a Manager of Philanthropy to support the Associate Vice President, Philanthropy (AVPP) to grow, cultivate, steward, and renew Out Teach’s portfolio of philanthropic funders to fuel the operations and growth of the organization. The person in this role will directly manage an assigned portfolio of funders with direct revenue goals and will also be responsible for supporting Out Teach’s overall philanthropy portfolio, including managing research, prospecting, cultivation and stewardship, administrative and philanthropy operations, donor data, and other duties as assigned by the AVPP.
The ideal candidate will help drive growth and manage relationships with funders through relationship building, cultivation, and stewardship. The Manager, Philanthropy ensures an excellent funder experience, supports pre- and post-award grant functions, and stewards funders throughout the partnership to meet renewal goals. This position supports the AVPP as needed and collaborates across functions to ensure that Out Teach’s intended fundraising goals are met. The Manager, Philanthropy will have direct revenue goals and will be responsible for implementing a fundraising process to successfully cultivate, steward, and renew philanthropic support (e.g., national, regional, and local foundations, other institutional funders like local United Ways, individual donors).

Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below. The duties and responsibilities include the following, though other duties may be assigned:
- Manage an assigned portfolio of philanthropic funders (e.g., foundations, institutional funders, and individual donors), including research, outreach, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, reporting, and renewal.
- Support Out Teach’s portfolio of current and prospective philanthropic funders, including preparing prospecting notes, presentations, meeting agendas and materials, cultivation materials, and communication drafts for the relationship manager.
- In collaboration with the organization’s grant writer and as assigned by the AVPP, support Out Teach’s grant-seeking process, including information collection, writing, reviewing, and revising proposal submissions, agreements, and reports.
- Manage philanthropy systems, files, and processes, including Salesforce, grant tracking and calendars, grant attachments, grant reporting, philanthropy revenue tracking, funder acknowledgment processes, knowledge management, donor data and information, and other philanthropy tools and processes to ensure an efficient and effective philanthropy function.
- Liaise cross-functionally with the Program, Finance, and Innovation teams to support grant writing and reporting and ensure data consistency.
- Manage the philanthropy department’s cultivation and stewardship processes, including content creation and compilation, to articulate Out Teach’s value proposition to philanthropic funders.
- In collaboration with the AVPP, leverage the Board of Directors, Regional Advisory Boards, Out Teach Senior Leadership team, Innovation team, and Program team strategically to effectively cultivate, steward, and renew foundations and donors.
- Serve as an internal thought-partner and offer solutions and/or best practices to improve philanthropic fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship strategies across the organization.
- Support Regional Board liaisons with regional board management as needed.
- Plan and execute annual fundraising campaigns and events as needed.

- Fluency in Salesforce strongly preferred; fluency in a CRM/donor database required

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 4-7 years of experience in a fundraising/development role
- Demonstrated experience in philanthropy operations for a nonprofit, preferably in the education space
- Demonstrated experience in securing new financial support and successfully stewarding and renewing funders
- Strong knowledge of philanthropy and K-12 education trends preferred
