Job Overview:
Oversee internal GL accountants and a third-party vendor in the production and review of monthly financials for our HOA clients. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Provide exceptional service to our clients and collaborate with team members to promote client retention. Build strong internal and external relationships, streamline processes, deliver training, reduce liability, and enhance overall operations.
Compensation: 130k + annually, based on experience
FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of GL accountants and a vendor, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of client financial statements
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support strategic decision-making
- Perform detailed reviews of client financials, identifying potential risks, variances, and opportunities
- Develop and implement strong internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure financial accuracy, and manage cash flow
- Approve monthly Reserve Funding and cash management transfers; review budgets before distribution
- Monitor and address client satisfaction, adjusting processes and resolving issues to promote client retention
- Collaborate with Community Managers and leadership to troubleshoot and resolve financial issues
- Train, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning
- Coordinate external audits, ensure timely tax filings, and provide financial insights to senior management
- Represent the Company at board meetings, sales presentations, and client interactions, offering financial recommendations
- Manage new account setups, ensuring accurate financial reporting and client satisfaction
- Identify trends and develop plans to mitigate risks, reduce surprises, and ensure ongoing client satisfaction
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with clients, and team members
- Demonstrate organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Must be able to effectively communicate through written & verbal means
- Strong multitasking skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize them according to their level of importance
- Proven time management abilities, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in a senior-level role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience in property management or real estate, particularly in HOA management, is a plus
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial management tools
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Applications with an emphasis on Word and Excel
Physical Requirements:
- Sit and stand for moderate periods of time
- Sit at a desk using a computer in an office setting

Work Location : Scottsdale Corporate Office; 9000 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8a – 5p with some evenings and weekends as required
Travel Requirements: Some local travel required with the use of a personal vehicle
