Job Description
- The Financial Accountant is responsible for general accounting tasks related to period end closing, SOX / financial statement audit support, and other Financial Operations accounting related work and compliance. The Financial Accountant will support key initiatives including enhancing business processes and the optimization of the close process.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for general accounting tasks related to period end closing, SOX / financial statement audit support, and other Financial Operations accounting related work and compliance.
- Ensures financial results are reported accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP, corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Preparation and/or review of monthly and quarterly working papers, ensuring proper classification and no material misstatement.
- Prepares journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and is responsible for treasury functions.
- Maintains a solid understanding of the business, its transactional and contractual obligations and becomes directly involved in specific business issues and their resolution.
- Prepare statutory compliance reporting.
- Participation in special projects, committees, and other accounting duties/projects as may be assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred in an accounting or finance role.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software. QuickBooks is an asset.
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Time management and organizational skills.
