We are seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to help manage an in-house asset management function to service the Company's growing portfolio of renewable energy assets. The Assistant Corporate Controller will work directly with the VP-Controller and other key stakeholders to assist in the development of the finance and reporting capabilities of our Company. The individual is expected to manage the Company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about accounting and finance with a background in partnership accounting and energy industry project finance.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the accounting for renewable energy assets, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, depreciation, impairment, and disposal.
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting for renewable energy segments.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits and reviews.
- Manage the ESG reporting process and ensure compliance with fund level, federal, state, and local requirements and regulations.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures for renewable energy operations and transactions.
- Assist in the implementation of Workday, the Company’s new ERP accounting system.
- Provide due diligence support on new investment opportunities; manage and coordinate purchase accounting for newly acquired assets.
- Supervise, mentor, and train the accounting team and ensure high performance and quality standards.
- Support the VP-Controller and Finance in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for renewable energy business units.
- Research and monitor accounting and reporting developments and best practices for renewable energy industry.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to provide accounting guidance and support for renewable energy projects and initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- At least seven (7) years of public accounting experience and additional industry experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting standards for renewable energy assets and emissions reporting.
- Experience in managing and leading accounting teams and projects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and other accounting software, Workday preferred.
