Review accounting for technical and complex accounting transactions, Treasury, Accounts Payable, COPAS etc., in order to ensure compliance with US GAAP/FASB reporting requirements and development of company accounting policy. Recommend actions based on changes in reporting and/or accounting requirements. Prepare and document accounting and reporting policies and procedures. Assist the Manager with reporting requirements, regulations and rules and stay current with all accounting and reporting requirements which impact the Operational accounting teams.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Understand the needs of the Operational Accounting functions, and how the Technical Accounting team supports those needs while also representing the needs of Technical Accounting to the business
- Envision, design, and deliver accounting policies and procedures that generate value in terms of risk reduction, regulatory compliance, automation, efficiency by exploiting best in practice Accounting policies.
- Use current technology to help modernize Accounting operations to improve reliability, increase operational efficiency, and reduce cost.
- Translate project documents, including reports and project specific business rules into technical specification document for development by internal or external resources.
- Support end users and super users with training where required in regards to SAP.
- Provide other ad-hoc support and assistance, as requested
- Coordinating and interacting with Business development in due diligence or other initiatives as required.
- Assisting in the evaluation of accounting processes and controls, with an objective of increasing efficiencies and provide better information for management decision making.
- Working with the Technical Accounting Team to optimize and implement new accounting standards and company best practices.

- Ensures commitments to business stakeholders are met, solicits opinions and ideas from Finance, Accounting and Land departments, and responds to inquiries.

Qualifications
Five (5) years minimum experience in Upstream Oil and Gas Accounting (and/or related fields) including technical accounting, business analysis or relative accounting functions. Five (5) years minimum experience in technical accounting role - General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Cost and Profit Center Accounting (CPA) Technical Accounting support and training of end users Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities without supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a focus on Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
