About This Opportunity
Rockford Construction is currently searching for an Accounting Manager to supervise, track, and evaluate day-to-day activities of our general construction projects and teams. The Accounting Manager's responsibilities include leading and managing 6 to 8 Project Accountants, while working with construction project managers to resolve payable and receivable issues and managing daily activities. This role reports directly to the Controller of Construction Accounting.

Responsibilities
- Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Manage day-to-day activities and projects of the project accounting team
- Administration of Concur, Rockford's expense management software
- Daily cash management duties as assigned
- Serve as contact for Accounts Payable problem payables
- Maintain Project Lien Report
- Assist VP of Finance and Corporate Counsel on liens / potential legal issues
- Accountable for second check signature on all checks and ACH transactions
- Appraise and approve credit applications
- Process mid-month aging reports to pay vendors and suppliers
- Run Aging when cash received and distribute to accountants to prepare checks
- Checkbook and general ledger maintenance
- Lead on all vendor management including new vendor setup, W9 requests, tax info etc.
- Reconciliation of GL accounts
- Investigate invoices on hold issues
- Review and process bi-monthly employee expense reimbursements
- Lead contact for Comdata (Corporate Card), and Amazon accounts
- Coordinates all team member leasing agreements and payments
- Preparation and filing of 1099 forms
- Preparation and filing of state sales & use tax returns
- Serve as back-up to accounting team
- Champion and liaison for the Trade Contractor Dimensions program
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related degree required.
- Proven work experience as 'Accounting Manager' or 'Accounting Supervisor'; ideally a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience
- Excellent people skills and able to build strong team relationships
- Must possess superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must have a working knowledge of MS Office, including strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
- Master's degree in accounting or finance.
- Sage 300/Intacct experience
- A general tax knowledge
- Construction accounting experience

Environmental Factors
The work environment for this position may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction sites. Examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subjected to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times outside the job trailer. Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. or less.
