Position Summary: The Accounts Receivable and Payroll Clerk will be responsible for ensuring that the company records the payments for goods and services offered to customers and will also complete all aspects of in-house processing of weekly payroll for approximately 65 employees in two companies and multiple unions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Verifies daily cash sheet activity for various operating locations.
- Creates reports regarding the status of customer accounts as requested.
- Tracks and obtains customer sales tax exemptions and works with billing on adjustments.
- Researches customer discrepancies and past-due amounts with the Credit Manager and other staff.
- Assists the Accounting Manager and Credit Manager to reconcile accounts receivable on a periodic basis.
- Assists Accounting Manager in reconciling cash sales activity as needed.
- Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
- Relays changes of information to appropriate employees.
- Updates and processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholdings, address changes, and other information.
- Understands Union contract provisions and rules as they relate to payroll processing.
- Periodic reporting of payroll withholding deductions and obligations especially relating to Union contracts.
- Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
- Issues, or reissues replacement checks or direct deposits if necessary due to payroll errors or other reasons.
- Prepares payroll reports as needed including for accounting accruals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Requirements:
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
- Valid Driver’s License (DL) and satisfactory driving record is required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- Candidates must possess extremely excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
- 5 years of current payroll experience is a plus.
- Experience with union contracts involving multiple pay levels and pay rules preferred.

- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, talk and hear.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to communicate with others by telephone, computer, and in-person.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet and in operational areas may be moderate.
