ATA Engineering is an employee-owned engineering consulting company seeking an organized and motivated individual to fill our entry-level Human Resources (HR) Assistant role. The position will assist with the administration of HR functions including recruitment, performance management, HR information systems (HRIS), benefits, safety programs, training, personnel filing, data entry, event planning, catering orders, and various other policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will act as a point of contact for all company offices and personnel requiring assistance with the administration or clarification of HR systems, benefits, or policies, with a key focus on creating and maintaining positive employee morale, education, and participation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Cross-train with the existing HR team to gain familiarity with various HR functions, policies, and tasks affecting employees and business operations.
- Schedule and participate in administrative team meetings.
- Play a role in attracting and retaining top industry talent by posting career opportunities on various job boards while working with the HR team to conduct meaningful recruitment outreach and facilitate quick candidate response times.
- Promote HR best practices for new hire onboarding and integration.
- Support the HR team with office setup and travel arrangements for new hires, returning students, and interview candidates.
- Maintain electronic and hard copy personnel files to ATA standards of excellence.
- Participate in the rollout of the annual performance evaluation process.
- Help to maintain the company’s HRIS and related systems.
- Acquire a thorough understanding of all company benefit offerings and supporting resources.
- Plan and organize company social events, collect data and RSVPs, and serve as the on-site point of contact on the day or evening of the event.
- Collaborate with the HR team to measure, track, and report results of HR efforts, employee participation, and feedback for improvement.
- Actively promote initiatives relating to corporate social responsibility, employee ownership, training opportunities, and health and wellness.
- Share responsibility for the day-to-day communication and consistent administration of HR policies and procedures as outlined in the company’s employee handbook.
- Obtain feedback from employees and management aimed at improving the support provided by the HR function.
- Assist with the training of employees as needed for compliance, system upgrades, and new policies.
- Become an office safety ambassador and maintain the company’s safety standards and emergency notification system.
- Assist with additional administrative tasks and supply orders as needed.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and uphold company and employee confidentiality best practices.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, communications, business administration, management, public relations, or other relevant discipline with excellent academic record
- A minimum of 1–2 years of work experience, preferably in a professional or technical setting
- Ability to prioritize work, proactively plan, and multitask
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Professional dress, appearance, and demeanor
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to spend long periods of time sitting at a computer, standing, or in an active state as needed to coordinate various event types within diverse environments
Salary Range (2024): Entry–Mid Career Level: $50,000–$56,000 per year
