Job Description
Purpose:
The Associate Functional Business Consultant serves as a business system or business process subject matter expert for their assigned area. This position will represent their area of expertise with regard to business system knowledge on internal and client projects, regulatory requirements, process improvement, advanced research, root cause analysis, complex issue research, documentation, communications, client interaction, training, testing, ongoing system support, and developing reports and coordinating audits. This position will receive guidance, mentoring, and work direction from a Functional Business Consultant (FBC) in some or all of these accountabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Represents assigned business system or business process as a subject matter expert in the development of business requirements, system specifications, process flows, process change and/or project management.
- Participates in adopting operational best practices and standard operating procedures as it relates to assigned business system or business process.
- Works directly with business and users to support and improve existing applications and processes related to assigned business system.
- With direction from a FBC, researches and resolves business and technical problems by identifying, evaluating, and implementing improvements to processes and applications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience.
- 3+ years related work experience, to include:
- 2+ years PBM or healthcare industry experience, including 1+ year of functional experience in at least one of the specific areas for position (e.g., claims, eligibility, product, benefits, or related area).
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with clients.
- Experience using queries, thorough understanding of pharmaceutical claims data and general understanding of medical claims data; highly analytical.
- Self learns new processes/software to solve analytic problems.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to drive results and deliver on commitments.
- Experienced at meeting facilitation, conflict management, and consensus building.
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and ability to work under pressure with strict timelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with prior experience giving presentations.
- Proven problem solving and solution crafting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Visio. Lotus Notes experience desired.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Ability to grasp complex issues and determine solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Rx Claims system proficiency.
Minimum Physical Job Requirements:
- Occasional non-standard hours and travel may be required.
- Constantly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Reporting Structure:
- Can report to a Functional Business Consultant, Functional Business Owner, Manager or a Director in PBM Operations, Specialty Operations, Clinical Operations, Market Segment Services, Compliance, Clinical Review or Pharmacy & Network Services.
Potential pay for this position ranges from $85,600.00 - $128,400.00 based on experience and skills. Pay range may vary by 8% depending on applicant location.
