The Biohealth practice at Yahara provides IT consulting to companies ranging from small startups to large corporates and the Government sector. Examples of Yahara’s Biohealth practice IT consulting are Laboratory Process Automation and Analytics, Medical and Pharmaceutical Instrumentation Product Development, Electronic Records, Quality Management System, Security Compliance, Medical Device Integration with Health Care Electronic Records, Clinical Trial Management and Biotech Manufacturing.
The Lead Business Analyst is focused on providing Business Analysis services independently for multiple projects of any size. This Lead Business Analyst position will primarily align with the Biohealth practice clients and, if needed, work with clients from other practice areas of Yahara Software. The position may engage in a new client discovery project and build trusted relationships with the new client to turn a discovery engagement into long-term contracts with the client.
General Job Duties:
- Partner with client stakeholders across multiple client business units (ex: research scientists, product management, manufacturing, software development, and lab technicians) to understand client vision, pain points, and needs.
- Conduct sessions with stakeholders to discuss current-state scientific and business processes and gather future-state needs.
- Understand and analyze parts of client’s larger scientific workflow such as chromatography, stem cell manufacturing, genome sequencing, radiation therapy, etc. and participate in the assessment of how automated systems can be leveraged for implementation.
- Utilize requirements analysis tools such as flow charts, sequence diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, etc. to depict current-state and future-state scientific and business processes.
- Serve as a liaison between the development team and client to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with scientific and business needs.
- Analyze complex business problems and assess how automated systems can be leveraged to help solve them.
- Formulate and define the stakeholders’ objectives into a recommendation of potential solutions with consideration to technical feasibility, client vision, timeline, and budget.
- Research the client’s market competitive advantages and disadvantages and what external pressures may apply from the project manager and work those into the overall solution design.
- Organize requirements and potential solutions into feature sets. Develop and propose a roadmap for feature implementation in multiple phases collaboratively with technical leads and project managers.
- Convert requirements and solutions designed in collaboration with Tech lead into stories in support of development activities such as estimating, development, and testing.
- Plan and lead user story development for upcoming releases in support of readiness for development in sprints.
- Lead, facilitate, encourage, and motivate User Acceptance Testing, gather testing feedback, prioritize bug fixes, and negotiate acceptance from the client.
- Provide guidance to project coordinators to lead scrum cadences such as stand-ups, backlog grooming and estimation, sprint planning, and sprint close demos.
- Delegate user story, wireframes, and mock-up development to project coordinators to develop Business analysis skills for project coordinators.
- Identify project risks and escalate to project manager from the product development point of view.
- Make decisions which impact the work of employing organizations, achievement of organizational objectives, and financial performance.
- Have authority and responsibility for a significant area of work, including technical, financial, and quality aspects.
- When appropriate, lead organizational objectives and delegate responsibilities.
- Be accountable for actions and decisions taken by self and subordinates.
- Support the creation and use of sales materials and tools.
- Utilize past industry-specific knowledge and experience to enhance sales conversations and build credibility with potential clients.
- Stay up to date and incorporate learnings from IIBA or other industry standard entities for software development best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other STEM areas with 10-12 years of work experience in the field of Business Analysis, Product Leadership, and Development, and Project Management.
- 6 to 8 years of Business Analysis experience.
- Extensive experience supporting functional processes and technical design.
- Working knowledge of software design and architecture concepts, SQL database design, and other emerging technologies.
- Ability to understand scientific processes and map scientific processes to software product features via research or existing domain knowledge.
- High proficiency in visualizing product features and developing feature prototypes using tools such as Figma, Just-in-Mind, Axure, or other similar tools.
- Proven ability to manage projects and user testing.
- High proficiency in generating process and requirements documentation suitable for all levels ranging from C-level executives to junior software developers.
- High proficiency in the use of requirements analysis tools such as flow charts, sequence diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, fishbone diagrams, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, business acumen with problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in the role of Product Lead/Product Owner using Jira in an Agile team.
