Automotive Service Advisor Full Job Description:
Helwig Auto Clinic is a locally-owned and operated automotive service center founded in 2001. We strive to deliver quality products and service to our customers. We’re proud to serve south-central Wisconsin as a full-service independent auto, light truck, SUV, and hybrid vehicle repair and maintenance facility as well as a used car dealer. We service domestic and import vehicles, including cars, light trucks, and exotic and classic vehicles.
We have grown from a two-lift car repair shop into one with 11 service bays and 11 lifts. Helwig Auto Clinic LLC is a AAA-Approved Repair Facility, NAPA AutoCare Center and TIA-certified tire dealership. We’re focused on getting the job done right so our customers can get back on the road.
As a trusted Service Advisor, you will be the liaison between the customer and the service department. You will be tasked with scheduling appointments, reviewing service history, relaying important information about vehicle maintenance and repairs to customers, and providing accurate cost estimates. We service our customers with honesty and integrity, working as a partner to listen and advise customers, build long-standing relationships, while always aiming to provide the most positive experience possible. In collaboration with our team of Auto Technicians, our Service Advisors are responsible for determining vehicle needs and services required, verifying warranty coverage, developing estimates and creating repair orders.
Position Expectations
- Listen to and thoroughly document customer's concerns; review inspections and refer to service history to accurately identify and verify customer's service needs.
- Recommend services according to vehicle needs. Clearly communicate any additional recommendations from the Technician to the customer so that they can make an informed decision. Properly documenting all recommendations in the customer’s file.
- Promote the sales of appropriate services, parts, and accessories by demonstrating an understanding of the product and associated service requirements.
- Provide customers with an accurate quote that includes cost and time of completion for the approved services. Provide customers with updates throughout the day on the status of their services.
- Promptly greet customers in a professional and courteous manner both in-person and on the telephone.
- Conduct post-repair and declined services follow-up phone calls to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Track all new returns, core returns and warranty parts for individual customers.

- Willingness and ability to learn basic mechanical tasks
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a customer-focused role
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Service Advisor
- Prior experience in an auto service/mechanical setting
