The Nursing Management Consultant provides nurse management consultative guidance, direction and support on an ad hoc basis regarding RN management clinical operations. This role provides ad hoc leadership support to direct care or assigned nursing units as directed by the facility Chief Nursing Officer or Director of Patient Care. Position will provide flexibility to assist Nurse Leaders as needed, provide backup leadership support and ad hoc leadership where needed. At the direction of Chief Nursing Officer, this position may step in as a temporary substitute or back up for a Nurse leader with temporary responsibility for the delivery of clinical services, staff management and management of clinical and support staff. This role is designed to provide leadership backup, support and expertise on a per diem basis.

Responsibilities
- Provides consultative and Ad Hoc leadership support and direction in the day to day operation of the assigned unit.
- May assist designated nurse leaders in development of short- and long-term goals for the unit which are aligned with organizational goals.
- May provide education and training to new graduate nurses as needed.
- Will provide additional leadership support as needed to assist Nurse Leaders in managing time, resource and multiple priorities with appropriate delegation.
- May develop, implement, and support activities of Nurse Leaders and/or projects that promote patient satisfaction within a patient center care framework to achieve best practice targets.
- Provides timely notification of critical events to all appropriate individuals according to regulatory and organizational policies and practices.
- Ensures all team members are knowledgeable in emergency preparedness/disaster response policies and procedures.
- May develops unit specific response plans and participate in preparedness drills as required to mobilizing unit/department resources to meet needs as required.
- May Review and acts on Ad Hoc variance analysis reports including nursing hours per patient day, cost per unit of service, FTEs and other variables.
- Implements, monitors, evaluates and recommends action plans aimed to corrected variances. Prepares and submits variance and justification and recommendation reports to CNE/COO on a ad-hoc as needed basis.
- Advocates and supports established high standards for quality and service.
- Shares knowledge & expertise with Nurse Leaders as a means to achieve desired results.
- Develops and implements unit based/house wide projects as assigned by the Nurse Leadership.
- Collaborates with Nurse Leaders and other departments in implementing strategies to ensure success of PDCA/Performance Improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Current and valid New Jersey Nursing License is required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required
- Master's of Science in Nursing is preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive nurse management experience required
