JOB SUMMARY
Assists with Human Resources related tasks, recruiting, HRIS data entry, maintaining confidential files.
Assists with all employee benefit plans such as life, health dental, and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, deferred compensation, personal leave, and unemployment benefits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
- Processes employment applications and assists in other employment activities.
- Updates employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
- Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
- Ensures human resource files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements, in conjunction with MST policies and procedures.
- Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports.
- Assists the EEO Officer with reporting functions and compliance with federal regulations.
- Assists in preparing recruitment lists and job postings.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required.
- Enters new hire information in the human resources systems database.
- Compiles and maintains records for use in employee benefits administration.
- Assists in the preparation of files and reports of accidents and/or injuries at the establishment.
- Assists employees with benefit and other HR related questions.
- Other duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY
Basic understanding of human resources functions, including current employment, leave and benefit legislation; recruitment and onboarding techniques. Knowledge of all related computer applications. Establish and maintain quality standards; proofread; write clearly and concisely; use office computer programs (word processing, database management, spreadsheets); establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; maintain confidentiality concerning employee records and information. Interpersonal communications; effectively communicating in situations requiring tact and poise; ability to give presentations in front of groups of applicants and new employees; intermediate computer office applications. Well organized, accurate, and attentive to detail.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent; at least one year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in the Human Resources field.
