Job Description
We are looking for a Business Intelligence Consultant for a 12 month contract opportunity that is mostly remote with some onsite work (1x/month) in Trenton, NJ. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in Tableau, Power BI, data wrangling, data modeling, and data warehousing.
What You’ll Do
- Develop new, as well as, updating or enhancing existing dashboards using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep.
- Facilitate transition of current dashboards from Tableau to Power BI.
- Create process documentation to recreate existing Tableau dashboards in Power BI, promote user acceptance for Power BI based dashboards, and promote wider understanding of the BI layer and its interaction with the Azure data platform.
- Act as a team leader for junior business intelligence developers – facilitating their learning and seamless transition using the organizational BI strategy.
- Design visualizations with a modular design of reports, worksheets, and views in Business Intelligence tools.
- Develop dashboards with advanced features such as Level of Detail, DAX queries, contextual filters, etc.
- Assist in developing, testing, improving, and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively.
- Apply critical thinking to gather requirements from an internal stakeholder and adjusting for external users to create interactive dashboards in BI tools.
- Organize data in a concise format.
- Participate and contribute to ETL/ELT processes when required.
- Analyze data using industry best practices and provide business value to stakeholders.
What You’ll Need
Required
- 5+ years of experience in creating Tableau dashboards.
- 3+ years creating dashboards within Power BI.
- Strong foundation in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Cloud, as well as experience in troubleshooting and performance tuning of reports, and resolving issues within Tableau Cloud and reports.
- Work collaboratively and understand business requirements and system architecture.
- Tableau Desktop/Cloud experience, including recent versions of Tableau, and have in-depth knowledge of Tableau Parameters, Data blending, Action filters, joins, and Drilldowns. They should also have experience in cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure.
- Data Visualization: Tableau AND Power BI; in addition to any other data visualization tools.
- The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of views, Synonyms, Indexes, Joins, and Sub-Queries.
- Experience working with Agile methodology and be proficient in Database & Python/Shell Scripting.
- An understanding of the appropriate chart types (Bar charts, Line charts, scatter plots, Heat Maps, Sankey Diagrams, Tree maps).
- Data Modeling: ETL/ELT Processes, Python Data Science Libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn).
- Data Warehousing experience.
- Experience working with large data sets.
- Critical thinking skills and detail oriented.
- Strong written and strategic communication skills for stakeholder management.
- Attention to details to be able to validate values and provide deliverables.
- Working knowledge of Power BI developer skills. Should be familiar with DAX(Data Analysis Expressions) for creating custom calculations in Power BI.
Preferred
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
