Harrison County Hospital is seeking a Lactation Consultant and Educator in our Labor and Delivery Department.
Position available: Full-time, Days/Evenings, 40 hrs/wk
Hours vary depending on the needs of the unit and class schedules. This position consists of Lactation education and classes, Childbirth education classes, and OB unit education as well as filling in as a staff nurse as needed.
Under the supervision of the Department of Nursing, the Lactation Consultant is a licensed registered nurse, responsible for the lactation education the nursing patient receives within the realms of standards of nursing practice, nurses code of ethics, and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. The lactation consultant must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of lactation and understanding of the guidelines to manage early breastfeeding issues with accuracy and confidence. As a childbirth educator, this person will plan and present Childbirth Education classes to the public on an as-needed basis.

- Active Indiana State Registered Nurse License
- CPR Certified
- NRP Certified

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- One year experience as OB nurse, or nurse with childbirth education training.
- Individual with interest in childbirth education and demonstrates exceptional teaching skills.
- Experience with lactation education.
- Lactation counselor certification.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

- Ability to assess and interpret age-specific data.
- Possess skills and knowledge of neonate and adult in OB unit.
