Job Summary: Provide Aboriginal Infant Development services to children 0-6 years of age with an emphasis on children ages 0-3 in Grand Forks and Boundary region.
Reports to: Executive Director
Key Duties:
- Receive and assess referrals from community service providers.
- Through home visits assess and determine the needs of the child/family.
- Complete an (IFSP) Individual Family Service Plan with each family.
- Work in collaboration with and make referrals to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal early years programs to support the needs of the child and family.
- Provide parent education and support.
- Provide community development, awareness and education including offering training to Infant Development staff.
- Perform ongoing assessments/screening, evaluation and reporting.
- Maintain related records and statistics as required by program guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Diploma in ECE/Human Services and at least 2 years’ experience working with children in the Early Years sector or experience and training equivalent. Some training in infant development is preferable. Must have knowledge of the needs of the Aboriginal community in the West Kootenay and Boundary region.
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated Aboriginal cultural competence and a good understanding of the West Kootenay and Boundary Aboriginal community and resources.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work well independently and recognize and request support and consultation when needed.
- Competent computer abilities in MSWord, Email, Internet, data management.
- Ability to provide cultural consultation and training to colleagues.
Other Job Requirements:
This position requires the incumbent to travel throughout the Boundary region. The incumbent must have a reliable vehicle, road emergency equipment, business insurance that includes $3 M liability, and a criminal record check.
