Job Summary
Advise and consult customers on vehicle service needs. Create repair orders for customers and communicate with the service department and customer regarding the status of parts and/or service required. We seek a self-starter, motivated, customer-focused service writer who wants to provide a superior customer experience in the automotive repair field. Compensation starts at $20/hr (entry level) with a commission package determined through mutual goal setting to promote a positive customer experience. Compensation can be higher with proven experience and performance based on sales goals shared through the Point Of Sales software system.
Responsibilities
- Promptly meet and greet customers
- Determine the nature of customer problems; may make road tests or visually inspect the vehicle
- Create Repair Order Requests (ROR) detailing services to be performed or merchandise to be sold
- Obtain customer approval for service before delivering the order to service personnel
- Review completed repairs or services performed with customers and collect payment
- Maintain cleanliness of showroom and restock displays as needed
- Perform daily cash/sales procedures at the close of business day
- Comply with Company Quality Control Program, Company Safety Policy, OSHA, and EPA regulations
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or comparable vocational training
- Knowledge of computerized sales and marketing software
- Knowledge of auto/truck tire, lubrication, and maintenance issues
- Experience using various Point of Sales Software systems such as Tire Guru, Mitchell Repair, All-Data, and other software
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years experience in a retail environment, preferably auto/truck tire, lubrication, and maintenance
- 3+ years experience as a Service Advisor in an auto repair store, auto dealership, or comparable professional environment
- Experience as a vehicle mechanic or lubrication technician
