PURPOSE:
The primary function of the GM/HBC Sales Consultant is to build sales in the area of GM/HBC Merchandising to independent banner stores through education, suggestive selling, and product placement.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creating strategic programs to grow sales with GM/HBC merchandise with independent customers through seasonal items, cross-merchandising, and product placement.
- Creating a strategic program to build GM/HBC merchandisers with banner stores.
- Managing assigned stores in the territory to include budgeting and monitoring purchases, assisting stores in managing new/discounted items, and training Non-Food Managers where needed.
- Planning, directing, and implementing store resets and conversions.
- Analyzing assigned accounts for growth opportunities and implementing them to increase stores C.O.P. and departmental distribution.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/ Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. A degree in business, marketing or a similar quantitative field is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum (3) three to (5) five years’ experience with GM/HGC Merchandising (Retail).
- Financial, mathematical, statistical, marketing and/or merchandising background to read, interpret, and understand how internal and external factors influence financial results.
- Organizational and Project Management experience a plus.
Knowledge:
- Ability to transfer knowledge to retail teams for implementation at store level.
- Possess a high degree of self-management, problem-solving, and analytical ability.
- Must have the ability to interact across various teams to work with and through others to achieve desired results.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships within and outside of the company. Must have the ability to represent the Company’s interests to outside professionals and vendors.
- Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Data Warehouse/Ad Hoc/Nielsen experience preferred but not required.

- Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to compile and analyze data.

- Ability to present results of analysis, data models, and other projects to management concisely and professionally.
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/ DEMANDS:
- Travel required in the territory.
- Incumbent may sit for long periods at a desk or computer terminal.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment during the normal workday.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
