Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 3240-6 Burnt Mill Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
This position is to intervene in and prevent the spread of infectious diseases like monkeypox, COVID-19, HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis as specified in the North Carolina Administrative Code. This position locates, informs, counsels, and interviews patients diagnosed with a communicable disease for the purposes of preventing further disease spread by notifying individuals of their infection or exposure and linking them to the appropriate evaluation and treatment. This position also provides technical support and training resource consults on violations of North Carolina's disease control measures.

- Basic knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases or AIDS, their symptoms, complications, and epidemiology.
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of specific investigative methods, interviewing and supportive counseling techniques.
- Ability to establish rapport and effective communications with clients, family members, and others involved.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local public health laws, rules, and regulations which are applicable to sexually transmitted diseases.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in oral or written form.
- Ability to plan and execute work.
