Job Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner partners with University and College stakeholders to develop and implement solutions and deliver exceptional HR support in a challenging and dynamic business environment. The HR Business Partner demonstrates commitment to excellence and will achieve results by leaning into complex people matters and address challenges, take ownership of projects, demonstrate self-directed learning, and provide and accept continuous feedback in a supportive work environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough Knowledge of:
- Core HR processes including performance management, organization design, leadership development, talent management, compensation, succession planning, training and organizational development.
- Strategies identifying and building cross-functional partnerships to understand challenges.
- Communication skills with experience coaching leaders and a proven creative problem-solver with an ability to initiate projects and to drive things to completion.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
- Experience in providing confidential counseling and coaching to all levels of the organization; exercising judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Experience in working well with others to maintain and build cross-functional (internal and external) relationships.
- Prove ability to think and move quickly, manage multiple priorities, and make difficult tradeoffs to meet deadlines, especially in fast-paced ambiguous environments.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related work experience.
OR
Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related disciplines.
OR
Juris Doctorate/Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of related work experience.
OR
Equivalent combination of training and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Partners closely with peers and stakeholders across the University and Colleges to assess human resources programs, processes, and practices and to identify gaps and inefficiencies, and innovate to enhance the employee experience and support long-term growth objectives.
- Partner with business leaders and peers in utilizing organizational data and diagnostic to advise on organizational design, strategic talent management, change design and orchestration, and leadership and performance.
- Partners and consults with University and College leadership for full human resources service in areas such as organizational and employee development, performance management, employee relations, compensation/classification, and benefits/leaves of absence.
- Diagnoses organizational needs, develops practical, creative and/or innovative solutions to enhance team performance and advance business strategy, and ensuring effective implementation and sustainment of solutions.
- Organizes, prioritizes, plans, schedules, and executes HR projects/initiatives.
- Analyzes and presents employee experience pulse survey data/key themes to HR leadership and partnering with HR leadership to identify actions that address employee survey priorities and drive change. Advocating inclusion and engagement in facilitating performance.
- Interprets/guides employees and leaders on HR policies and procedures. Familiar with Federal and State laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum: $65,000.00
Maximum: $75,000.00

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The Expected Pay Scale is defined as the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity and relevant qualifications.
