Department Profile:
We are a dynamic and fast-paced area within the Firm’s WM Technology Division. We are responsible for creating innovative technology solutions for the Private Banking Group (PBG), one of the strategic growth areas of the Firm, providing cash management and lending products and services to our WM clients. This includes state-of-the-art technology for a nationwide network of Private Bankers and product specialists who work with Financial Advisors to provide access to products and services such as online banking, cards, deposit products, residential mortgages, and securities-based loans and tailored lending.
Position Description:
The position is for a Technology Risk Manager, focusing on support for our Company’s Banks: Our Bank, National Association, our Private Bank, National Association and E-TRADE Savings Bank. These banks are independent national banks and wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Company. Because of their national bank charters and ability to attract stable insured deposits, the Banks represent valuable franchise-enhancing strategic assets to the Firm.
The Banks Technology team is responsible for supporting Bank business and growth by managing the provision of technology within a regulatory-compliant, risk-managed framework in a cost effective manner. The team is seeking an experienced Technology Risk Manager to provide ongoing monitoring of the Banks’ technology risk landscape including the identification, tracking, reporting, and oversight of risks and remediation activities, as well as participation in the evolution and execution of the Bank technology risk program.
Responsibilities:
• Develop an understanding of the Banks’ business models and familiarity with technology services provided by the affiliate technology organization, as well as familiarity with active technology risk initiatives and their impact to each Bank.
• Assist with development of KRIs for monitoring and identifying risk exposures and KPIs to measure performance and facilitate decision-making.
• Regularly analyze metrics data to identify trends and issues and recommend corrective actions to management
• Produce reporting for various Bank governance forums.
• Provide guidance to Firm technology teams on developing automation for Bank metrics.
• Contribute to key regulatory and risk initiatives, and report on risk exposures to enable informed decision-making.
• Participate in Firm technology and information security governance and risk forums to represent Bank interests.
• Assist with preparation of responses to technology–related regulatory requests.
• Assist with metric data quality checks and validations to ensure data is complete, accurate, consistent, relevant, and timely.
• Assist with review and validation of metrics procedure documents to ensure key information is captured that supports metric production.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Economics, or Finance.
• Five plus years of experience in a similar role in financial or banking services.
• Practical knowledge of technology and information security processes.
• Knowledge of key principles of Operational Risk management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems independently and drive tasks to completion.
• Advanced Excel skills, including data import, pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex information clearly for senior technical and non-technical audiences.
• High level of attention to detail and focus on precision.
• Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to navigate complex organizations and build relationships.
• High level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
Desired Skills:
• Prior experience working in a large bank or Financial institution.
• Understanding of risk assessment methodologies, internal controls and industry technology risk management frameworks.
• Knowledge of the FFIEC IT Handbooks, and related laws and regulations including OCC Heightened Standards for Large Banks, 12 CFR 30 Safety and Soundness Standards.
• One or more Industry Certifications (e.g. CISM/CISA/CRISC).
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Qlickview, Tableau or Power BI.
