The Schedule:
Retail Solar Consultants (RSCs) are full-time, W-2 employees that earn $17.50 per hour plus commission. The weekly schedule consists of 5 six-hour shifts. The two weekly options are either Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday. One weekend shift is required because those are the busiest days in The Home Depot where you will earn the most commission.
Training:
Your training will take place in 3 distinct locations. The initial training will take place in our office and headquarters in Biddeford, Maine. Additionally, some field training on pitching to homeowners will take place in neighborhoods where we will pitch to prospective clients door-to-door and finally, the rest of your training will take place in The Home Depot locations themselves. During your training you will work closely with your manager to learn Venture Solar’s proven system for finding buyers. We will teach you how to become comfortable, confident, and productive in your upcoming role as a Retail Solar Consultant. During training you will learn Venture Solar’s pitch and our scripted responses to homeowner’s most common questions. You will also learn how to professionally communicate with homeowners about all of Venture Solar’s product offerings.
The Retail Solar Consultant (RSC) Role in The Home Depot:
As an RSC you will be paid hourly plus the following commissions:
- $50.00 Bonus for completing a Soft Credit Check. If you are able to complete a soft credit check with a prospective client while booking their appointment, then you will earn an automatic $50.00 commission.
- $75.00 - $185.00 for Completed Consultations: Commissions for consultations are paid out on a biweekly, tiered basis so the more completed consultations that you have in a two-week timeframe, then the more you earn for each consultation:
- 1-3 Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $75.00 per consultation = $75.00 - $225.00
- 4-5 Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $110.00 per consultation = $440.00 - $550.00
- 6-7 Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $150.00 per consultation = $900.00 – 1,050.00
- 8+ Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $185.00 per consultation = $1,480.00+
The Retail Solar Consultant (RSC) Role with Door-to-Door Appointments:
The following commissions are for Door-to-Door Consultations:
- $50.00 Bonus for acquiring a copy of a homeowner’s electric bill. Anytime that you are able to acquire a copy of the electric bill before the consultation, then you will earn an automatic $50.00 commission.
- $100.00 - $250.00 for Completed Consultations: Commissions for consultations are paid out on a biweekly, tiered basis so the more completed consultations that you have in a two-week timeframe, then the more you earn for each consultation:
- 1-3 Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $100.00 per consultation = $100.00 - $300.00
- 4-5 Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $150.00 per consultation = $600.00 - $750.00
- 6-7 Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $200.00 per consultation = $1,200.00 - $1,400.00
- 8+ Completed Consultations in 2 weeks = $250.00 per consultation = $2,000.00+
Monthly High Performer Bonus: If you have 20 or more completed consultations in a calendar month, then you will earn an additional monthly bonus of $2,000.00 at the end of the month.
Example of potential monthly earnings:
- 124 hours worked x $17.50/hour = $2,170.00
- 10 Utility Bills/Soft Credit Checks x $50.00/bill = $500.00
- 10 Completed Consultations in both 2-week timeframes = $5,350.00
- 20 Completed Consultations in the month = $2,000.00 Total monthly earnings = $10,020.00 which is equivalent to $120,240.00 annually.
The Path to In-Home Sales:
Once you have two months with 12 or more Completed Consultations, then you will begin to train for Venture Solar’s Hybrid Sales role. In the Hybrid Sales role, you will not only be scheduling the Solar Consultations, but also going to the home to provide the front-end of the sales presentation. In the beginning you will run the presentations in tandem with a Sales Manager or a Veteran Salesperson that will support you virtually on a Zoom call, but ultimately the goal will be to train you to run the full sales process on your own.
