Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Directs career education preparation and manages the job search process. Develops and expands job opportunities for MS students. Oversees the operations of Career Services and may have responsibility for one of the following areas: Counseling and Education or Corporate Relations.
To function as a Career Director for the Simon Schools Career Management Center for the masters Programs. The Career Director for MS candidates will be one of several job search coaches and trainers for MS students enrolled in any of the schools one-year Specialized Masters Programs. Special focus in this role will be on students enrolled in the MS Business Analytics program. The role involves career coaching, career programming, tracking student progress, and assisting with business development on behalf of MS candidates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Counseling and Education (55%)
- Part of team that develops and offers career development programming on a 12-month annual cycle.
- Plan, organize and execute career-related events as needed, on or off campus as required, toward providing maximum student preparedness and participation to improve employment outcomes results.
- Develop, promote, and deliver a variety of group activities and programs that meet student job search needs specifically focused on the MSBA program.
- Designs and implements education programs regarding career opportunities and the job search process. Defines objectives and schedules career education programs for the academic year. Identifies guest speakers and panelists from among alumni and corporate contacts.
- Develops and manages instructional publications, newsletters, and materials as needed. Publishes and distributes resume books for internship track and full time MS for distribution to current and prospective recruiters, as requested. Provides comprehensive and current library resource materials for students to supplement career education curriculum.
- Collaborate with Benet Center team, faculty, and student clubs to provide high quality programming to candidates.
- Engage in on-going assessment of programs to continuously improve and personalize Benet Center programs for the MS candidates.
- Supervises individual career counseling on topics such as career interests, abilities, MSBA career fields, resume development, job search correspondence, interviewing, and job offers.
- Represents the Simon School at business conferences and professional placement organization meetings. Consults and confers with professional peers on policies, procedures, and operations.
- Meet with prospective students, virtually and in person.
- Builds and maintains productive relationships with the entire MSBA student body, ensuring that their career, education and counseling needs and expectations are met.
- Onboard incoming students.
- With MS and PD team and Benet Career Peers
- Provide on-going career consulting to assist students with their career development/job search process.
- Help students clarify their career goals using coaching meetings and assessment tools.
- Develop and critique candidates' resumes, cover letters, email correspondence and target lists.
- Teach two-pronged job search strategy (U.S. and home country).
- Conduct and critique mock interviews.
- Identify and disseminate resources and develop career strategies relevant to each candidate.
- Conduct on-going outreach to students using print, personal and electronic media, track contacts and report activities.
- Guide students with research of functions, companies, and industries, helping identify where they could work, worldwide.
- Coach and guide candidates in networking.
- Identify and disseminate resources and strategies relevant to the candidates' career interests.
- Consult and coach candidates on job or internship offers.
Track employment outcomes (10%)
- Track assigned student progress throughout job search and keep detailed advising and referral notes in Simon Works and Simon Source.
- Conduct outreach to students post-graduation to follow up on career progress and present opportunities as identified.
- Using personal outreach and social media in the U.S., China, and other locations globally.
- Provide relevant documentation by individual to satisfy employment reporting requirements according to MBA CSEA standards for reporting Specialty Masters employment outcomes.
Corporate Engagement (25%)
- Seek and maintain contacts with existing and new employers. Designs and implements employer marketing plans to develop relationships with corporations and alumni. Consistently markets the School and its students to those firms and develops personal relationships with recruiting personnel and corporate executives.
- Works with MBA Directors to help direct on-campus and off-campus recruiting programs for Analytic programs. Oversees scheduling and arranging of recruiting visits for employers and graduate school recruiters that interview on campus. Serves as liaison with the recruitment representatives who wish to meet with faculty, Department Chairpersons, Deans, and other staff of the university.
- Directs the activities of support staff making certain that appropriate follow through occurs with firms currently recruiting and those trying to attract students of the School.
- Represents the Simon School at business conferences and professional placement organization meetings. Consults and confers with professional peers on policies, procedures, and operations.
- Work independently and with Corporate Development team on bringing companies that hire MS students to campus, and facilitating alumni virtual networking, presentations, or interviewing.
- Accountable for reaching out to a set number of corporate contacts each week to build network and advance student progress.
Other duties as assigned (10%)
- Serve as lead trainer for new MS hires.
- Assist with online and print promotional activities for Benet Career Management Center.
- Serve as liaison to Admissions and OSE for Benet Center for MS candidate selection and in joint team meetings.
- Staff meetings and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree required; Masters or MBA preferred.
- Seven or more years relevant work experience in business, business analytics, finance, student advising, career services, recruiting, staffing or other similar area required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven ability to develop, deliver, and assess career-relevant workshops, presentations, and special events/programs.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $96,860 - $145,290 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
