PURPOSE
Working closely with the operational business teams and the IS organization, responsible for:
- Leading large- and small-scale projects to implement products, features, capabilities, and requirements to optimize our competitiveness, achieve and maintain compliance, facilitate the maximization of value created, and ensure our operations are efficient, secure, customer-friendly and that MGIC operates within prudent operational risk and regulatory controls;
- Aligning technology solutions with business strategies, consulting with business/project owners to define business processes, develop technology concepts, and implement to user satisfaction.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements describe the general nature of work performed by people assigned to this job, may not be performed by all individuals in this job, and are not a complete list of all job duties required.
- Leading large-scale and complex projects impacting multiple business domains that have high impact to MGIC customers and competitiveness.
- Organization and creation of detailed concepts; strength in facilitating and guiding the group to an understanding of current to future state, as well as the critical transition points and phases.
- Responsible for changes that have enterprise impact including identifying the changes in business process.
- Leading large- and small-scale projects, helping to establish timetables, milestones, RACI grids, workstreams, tasks, requirements, business cases and other components while driving the project team to achieve its objectives.
- Facilitates delivery of new products and/or technology solutions. Responsible for working with business owners and assessing requests for product enhancements, potential new products, and/or technologies based on requirements.
- Acts as liaison with internal developers and analysts. Works with other co-workers in various units to ensure successful completion and rollout of product and/or service.
- Identifies analysis tasks associated with project, including but not limited to, elicitation, business process analyses, needs assessments, cost/benefit measurements, estimated hours, business priorities, stakeholder identification, etc., ensuring products and/or technologies are aligned with business needs, and achieved per project schedule.
- Communicates using both formal and informal methods across cross functional teams throughout the organization.
- Analyzes new and existing business processes and systems looking for opportunities to streamline and automate.
- Participates as a member of the agile team as warranted, responsible for the creation of epics, features and user stories, maintaining an appropriate size backlog, and participation with the team as needed to provide details relative to ‘what’ needs to be delivered. Prioritize work and contribute to refinement of sprint planning to ensure value is delivered each sprint.
- Collaborates across business teams to create and document future state vision and serve as voice of the business as a member of the agile team.
- Works with Business Analysts, Developers, Project Managers and other resources, to ensure comprehensive understanding of the product goals and priorities; and aligns priorities and outcomes to attainment of minimal viable product, ensuring maximum value attained for least amount of effort.
- Translates business strategy and goals into technology deliverables.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing to ensure business objectives are being met.
- Facilitate end-user adoption activities for training and rollout, including but not limited to training guides, policy and procedures, and additional change management activities as necessary.
EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND
- Effective translation of business strategy to technology requirements and priorities.
- Experience with business process modeling tools and activities for shaping lean business processes.
- Agile methodology, practice and roadmap planning.
- Project management principles and practices.
- Change management practice; ability to address areas of transition or transformation of organizational goals and processes, as well as, their effect on the people involved.
- Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong critical thinking and ability to distil complex problems quickly.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure.
- Understanding of concept and phases of SDLC; able to complete assigned project tasks per each corresponding SDLC phase.
- More than 7 years of recent experience performing advanced work in area of specialization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Experience:
- Transformation of applications from legacy platforms into modern, cloud-based systems and solutions.
- Quick learner with the ability to get up to speed on MGIC business units products, technologies, business practices and the interrelationships thereof.
- Experience with AWS Cloud.
- In depth knowledge of residential mortgage industry and the role of mortgage insurance.
