The DuPont Engineering Technology Center (ETC) located in Wilmington, Delaware is a corporate engineering organization that provides engineering services to support DuPont businesses globally.
Our mission is to provide practical world-class solutions to drive innovation, operational excellence, and growth in partnership with DuPont businesses. Our Engineering subject matter experts (SMEs) are involved in process development, design of process equipment, capital project support, process improvement, and equipment troubleshooting.
The ETC seeks a highly motivated Energy Engineering Consultant who will provide global consulting services in all aspects of energy production and use within an industrial environment. The Energy Engineering Consultant works with site teams and Manufacturing Technology (MT) engineers to design and implement effective and innovative energy conservation measures and demand-side management strategies in buildings and facilities.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze systems and equipment to determine optimum operating conditions for energy efficiency, production capacity, safety, reliability, and right to operate (RTO).
- Directly support operations, maintenance, and engineering resources to troubleshoot and resolve production or quality issues at manufacturing facilities.
- Perform technical energy audits of processes or facilities; review energy data, develop energy conservation opportunities, and financial impact calculations, and present in technical reports for management.
- Apply knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and RAGEGEPs to ensure sites adhere to industry practices.
- Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art energy and sustainability technology and work to develop concepts and benefits which can be applied to facilities, or unit operations.
- Provide consultation to PHA and LOPA teams on applicable Safety Instrumented Systems, Burner Management Systems, Ventilation for process safety systems, or any other related technologies to ensure processes are safe to operate.
- Support corporate sustainability initiatives and consult with leaders.
- Effectively manage multiple programs with a focus on meeting cost and timing commitments while maintaining high-quality work.
- Communicate program objectives and results effectively, both written and verbally, to team members, plant personnel, and leadership.
- Develop capital project deliverables such as system modeling, detailed engineering calculations, process flow sheets, design basis packages, drawings or sketches, equipment specifications, scopes of work, cost estimates, sustainability calculations, and financial calculations.
- Develop and deliver training on energy-related technologies targeted at the appropriate audiences.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. MS in Engineering required.
- 10 – 15 years of experience in the chemical process environment or related industries.
- Ability to evaluate existing manufacturing processes and utilize engineering design processes to improve their efficiency, safety, or reliability.
- Familiarity with US and equivalent European and Asia-Pacific codes.
- Knowledge of related plant operational practices such as Process Safety Management.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to plan, prioritize, and implement multiple concurrent projects or activities.
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and able to function independently of supervision.
- Advanced usage of MS Office products and various vendor software.
- Expected travel for this position is between 10% and 20%.
