About the job
In this role, you’ll use your legal expertise and customer-focused perspective to drive success and add value for our customers throughout their entire customer journey.
You’ll work closely with customers to steer their legal compliance journey. You’ll use your legal expertise to tailor our legal tools and content to align with customer operations, and your fantastic people skills to build strong customer relationships.
You’ll engage with a wide variety of organisations (including local government and public sector organisations, electricity companies, universities, ports, trusts, and charities) to help them use our products to simplify their ongoing legal compliance and risk management. This role would suit someone who enjoys diving into different areas of the law, with the opportunity to specialise internally in some of our main customer industries.
Part of a small team reporting to the Head of Customer Experience, there will be opportunities to grow your career with ComplyWith as the business grows. This unique role at the intersection of law and technology allows for more autonomy and client contact than a typical intermediate legal role.
This is a full-time role in our growing Customer Experience Team, based in our Wellington waterfront office.
What you’ll be doing
In this diverse customer-facing role, your work will include:
- Planning and managing projects guided by what success looks like for the customer, including:
- Working with legal and risk teams to introduce and expand our products across their business
- Running meetings and interviews with customers
- Setting the wider customer organisation up with our legal products
- Meeting with key people across customer organisations to develop a deep knowledge of how their industry and business works
- Using your legal knowledge and attention to detail to build a profile of an organisation, identifying applicable laws and risk areas
- Using our innovative technology to link our legal content to the right people across the organisation
- Using our tools to identify risk areas and issues for customers
- Writing reports for leadership, boards, and governance on legal risk insights and law changes impacting their organisation
- Building long-term trusted relationships with key stakeholders
- Proactively supporting our customer community with ongoing advice on how their organisation can get the most out of our tools and legal compliance best practice
- Contributing to improvements to the customer journey process and internal processes
- Advocating for our products at conferences and industry events
- Contributing to business and software development by channelling customer feedback and your experience using our tools.
You’ll have mentoring and support from senior team members to get up to speed.
You’ll also work closely with the Content Team who is responsible for our legal compliance content, and the rest of the Customer Experience team to support and guide our customers on our legal products.

You know you’re doing a great job when:
- You receive positive feedback and are highly valued by customers and key stakeholders for your impact.
- You start to become an expert in our legal content, being able to pinpoint how our content applies to different organisations
- You develop familiarity with the legal risk profiles of different industries and customer operations and know what questions to ask to pinpoint these
- You’re comfortable owning and managing your own customer project work and ongoing customer relationships
What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- A law degree with at least 4 years of legal experience at a law firm or in-house (local or central government or in-house experience is helpful but not essential)
- Proven legal analysis skills, together with great practical common sense
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a confident speaker who can lead meetings and interviews with customers
- The ability to learn, apply and improve new processes and systems and take on new challenges in a collaborative and practical way
- An interest in the interface of the law, technology, client needs, and innovative creative thinking
