Job Summary and Qualifications
The Echo/Vascular Technologist will provide optimum patient care while performing all aspects of various echo/vascular testing including, but not limited to, 2-D echocardiograms, Doppler echos, carotid and venous duplex imaging exams, and other vascular procedures to evaluate heart and vessel abnormalities. The technologist works independently, utilizing sophisticated instruments and demonstrating good judgment and decision-making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient. Responsibilities include:
- Performing arterial and venous scans for evaluation of disease and blood flow.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and services.
- Maintaining knowledge of all equipment and responsible for orientation of new hires.
- Monitoring imaging dictation and reports.
- Maintaining all PMs of CV/Echo equipment and the records/documentation of such.
- Working closely with the director to ensure equipment is operational.
- Exercising professional judgment in the performance of procedures.
- Providing patient care essential to echo/vascular procedures for all patients from infancy to geriatric.
- Recognizing patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiating life support measures.
- Establishing and maintaining a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments, and the Medical Staff.
- Performing echo/vascular services “on call” as needed.
- Interpreting physician instructions, explaining procedures to patients, and selecting software options and imaging parameters while keeping records of the results.
- Ensuring compliance with ICAEL/ICAVL requirements (if accredited).
What qualifications you will need:
- Associates Degree in Imaging Science or completion of an approved ultrasound training program is required.
- Preferred RDCS.
- RCS Required.
- RVT or RVS certification.
- Must hold current BLS or obtain within one week of hire through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
