Job Summary and Qualifications
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to perform all patient record and transcription activities. Uses computer software proficiently.
- Functions in an organized and time-conscious manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, and departmental information.
- Assists nursing staff in preparing for patient care by setting up rooms for admission, deliveries, and special procedures.
- Cleans patient rooms and restocks on transfer/delivery/discharge.
- Organizes and stocks supplies on the unit to maintain adequate levels. Checks equipment to maintain adequate functioning.
- Maintains adequate operating room supplies. Checks equipment to ensure proper functioning. Checks supplies and instruments to ensure sterility.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates professional behavior.
- Receives, cleans, processes, assembles, and distributes medical supplies, equipment, and surgical instrumentation.
- Sterilizes all reusable equipment, supplies, and instrumentation, and maintains and operates OB unit sterile equipment.
What qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION
Required - High School diploma or GED, with strong background in English and spelling.
Preferred - Successful completion of an approved program for Nursing Assistants, hospital-based training and/or enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
EXPERIENCE
Required - Recent computer experience, including data entry and retrieval. Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred - Previous experience working in a hospital in a similar position.
Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider.
Required: Virginia License as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
