Job Summary:
We are seeking a CLINICAL SERVICES NURSE in our Vascular Surgery and Vein Clinic located in Raleigh, NC to be accountable for clinical expertise for specific patient populations. The incumbent functions as a clinician, educator, investigator, consultant, and leader. Clinical judgments are based on a synthesis of current research, concepts, principles, theories, and outcomes to solve complex problems. The incumbent functions as an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, contributing to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and in providing leadership to the organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with Vascular Surgery provider(s) to help manage patient care, document treatment plans, coordinate inter-visit imaging and referrals, and initiate surgical case scheduling.
- This position will require in-person attendance and travel between multiple Duke Vascular Surgery locations: Duke University Medical Center in Durham and the Duke Vascular Surgery and Vein Center at Brier Creek.
- Serve as a resource person in a nursing specialty area for patients, nurses, and other health team members throughout the Duke University medical center and community agencies.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Follow up to assure labs/procedures are completed, discuss abnormal results with provider, call patients with explanation of abnormal results, annotate normal results and forward to patients via MyChart or mail only if no MyChart account.
- Coordinate labs/studies with outside facilities, obtain appointments with specialists and coordinate w/pt., review all grid sheets after clinic-to ensure items were completed.

- Manage incoming patient calls, coordinate plans with providers, and return patient calls. Manage prescription refills as directed by provider. Complete prior authorizations, patient/insurance requested forms, and coordinate referrals.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
- Work requires graduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. State of North Carolina RN licensure is also required.
- Work requires three years of registered nursing (RN) experience.
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Job Schedule:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday (4 10-hour shifts. 800-6:30), with no weekends or holidays.
