Location: Department of Clinical Investigations (DCI), Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC), Fort Gordon, GA 30905
Hours of Performance:
- Up to an average of five (5) hours per week.
- Normal duty hours are Monday through Friday, 0730-1600 (excluding holidays).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routine and emergency veterinary medical and surgical care for laboratory animals.
- Maintain detailed animal records and ensure compliance with animal welfare laws, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct animal research protocol and amendment reviews.
- Consult on protocol development and provide ongoing support for animal research.
- Assist the Attending Veterinarian with animal research and regulatory questions/issues.
- Facilitate in-person lab animal care and training for medical and dental residents using animal models.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a current, active, valid, and unrestricted Veterinary license from the state of Georgia.
- Minimum of two years full-time experience as a laboratory animal veterinarian or board certification in laboratory animal medicine.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine.
- Completed a residency in laboratory animal medicine and board certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM).
- Experience working with medical residents on laboratory animal research projects and animal model training.
