Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the supervision of a RN.
- Collects patient assessment data and notifies appropriate RN of actual and/or potential problems and needs on an ongoing basis; records information concisely, accurately, and completely.
- Takes patient vital signs: temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respirations and records on patient record; reports any unusual findings to RN.
- Weights and measures patients and records on patient record.
- Administers medications and performs treatments and procedures as assigned by the RN.
- Assists with the patient intake process and discharge.
- Performs skilled nursing procedures within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
- Assists physician/ARNP/RN during tests or procedures.
- Documents appropriate information in a timely manner according to nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
- Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
- Performs more-complex nursing activities as competence increases.
- Communicates frequently with the Charge RN regarding patients’ physical and mental conditions.
- Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.
- Constructively participates in appropriate committees within the nursing department and/or the hospital.
- Performs daily checks in each unit covered by the team to ensure all the equipment is safe for patients and personnel.
- Monitors availability of supplies and orders replacements of necessary items to assure efficient operation.
- Responds and assists team members and other personnel in any patient emergencies.
- Assists in the orientation of other LPNs and/or nursing assistants.
- Creates a comfortable environment for staff, physicians, and other health care personnel.
- Knowledgeable in and effective in carrying out the policies of the clinic and facility.
- Supports and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Collects and conducts tests ordered by physicians/ARNP from patient blood, sputum, or urine.
- Draws and collects blood specimens for laboratory testing.
- Sets up and administers EKG.
Professional Accountability:
- Consistently maintains complete confidentiality on all aspects of HIPAA regulations.
- Attends meetings as needed and mandatory in-services.
- Acts as a role model and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.
- Maintains documentation of the continuing education requirements.
- Maintains professional certifications/licensure in active status.
- Seeks/accepts training to learn new skills and maintain current competencies.
- Practices within the guidelines set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing.
- Meets customers’ expectations by listening to them, demonstrating sensitivity and awareness of others.
- Follows through to ensure that established expectations are satisfied; keeps customers informed of progress.
- Works effectively and cooperatively in groups/teams to ensure quality patient care.
- Communicates effectively with directors and/or managers and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Regular, predictable, and dependable attendance.
- Demonstrates dependability/reliability by promptly reporting to work when scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned by the Clinic Nurse Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):
- Current/valid Florida nursing license.
- Graduate from an accredited LPN school.
- 2-year Associate Degree.
- BLS, HIV, Domestic Violence, and Medication Errors certifications.
- Minimum of one year LPN experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent English verbal/written skills are necessary.
- Moderate to advanced computer literacy and skills.
- Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with individuals at all levels of the hospital and medical staff organization.
- Multi-tasking and communication skills are necessary.
