The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Physician (Interventional Cardiologist). The Interventional Cardiologist will function in Medical Service on a Fee for Service Basis. Compensation will be based on the procedure performed. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/31/2024.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Licensure and Registration: Physicians must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- English Language Proficiency: Physicians appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
- Available on a seven-day basis to perform procedures locally
- Available to see patients in a remote clinic
- BE/BC in internal medicine, cardiology
- Expertise in interventional cardiology with advanced skills in complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
- Peripheral expertise
- Seven years of experience and expertise in intracoronary imaging and intervention
Physical Requirements:
The Physical Requirements of this position are concerned with the mental and physical ability of the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and may include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Performs and interprets high quality diagnostic cardiac coronary catheterization and Right heart catheterization.
- Performs high quality percutaneous coronary interventions, CTO, STEMI and nonstemi.
- Performs IVUS, OCT, LV support implant, coronary lithotripsy, and laser atherectomy.
- Teaches general and interventional fellows with the most up to date techniques and evidence guided therapies.
- Interfaces well with cath lab staff, cardiologists, and referring physicians.
Work Schedule:
Fee Basis; this system of VA compensation pays based on the specific task or service provided; it is expected that the employee will perform services as needed at a varying rate. Paid per session: $1,125.00 Salary cap: $125,000.00
