The Nurse Manager - Specialty is responsible for specialty nursing, including care management, chronic disease management, and infectious disease. Collaborates with leadership and clinical staff to improve quality of care and regulatory compliance. This position reports directly to the AVP of Clinical Operations, who shall determine the responsibilities of this position.
Essential Functions of this Role
- Oversees specialty nursing, including complex care management and chronic disease management programming, infectious disease programming, including STI and injectable medications.
- Ensures that there are processes in place to monitor and measure all activities related to performance improvement.
- Supports the management of projects and clinical workflows through tracking efficiencies.
- Develops and implements new training and competencies to clinical support staff by utilizing best practice methods, measurements, and tools.
- Ensures operating procedures are met by completing performance standards while maintaining compliance with organizational standards, and federal, state & local laws.
- Assesses current and develops new comprehensive education programs to the ongoing competency needs of the clinical staff regarding specialty nursing programming.
- Assists with training and onboarding staff.
- Provides consultation to enhance continuing education, professional development, and mentorship opportunities.
- Operates as a Registered Nurse as needed.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have:
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State
- Current BLS certification
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an ambulatory care setting, with one (1) to two (2) years of supervision experience.
- Experience in education and/or demonstrated relevant education and clinical expertise in providing education to adult learners is preferred.
- Experience with using EMR (Medent) strongly preferred.
Candidate will demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the issues that underserved populations, people living with HIV, and people who use drugs face, including health disparities that affect people of color at a disproportionate rate.
